Jamaica Plain Real Estate

Jamaica Plain is a diverse neighborhood of Boston located approximately 4 miles from the downtown. Commonly referred to as “JP” by locals it offers a variety of urban conveniences nestled within an abundance of greenspace. While the majority of the real estate in JP is limited to condominiums, the neighborhood offers a range of housing styles from early 20th century triple-deckers to modern townhomes. There are map of Jamaica Plain - Bostonsingle-family homes scattered throughout the area, however the bulk of them are concentrated in the Moss Hill, Bourne and Pondside sections.

In recent years Jamaica Plain has become a highly desirable location making for an increasingly competitive real estate market. Although DRW Realty is based in Dorchester we have Realtors with extensive knowledge of JP real estate that also reside in the neighborhood.

Jamaica Plain has several options for public transportation. There are four Orange Line T stops located in JP: Forest Hills, Green St, Stony Brook and Jackson Square, and there is access to the “E” green line via Heath St near the border of Roxbury. A number of buses pass through the main streets including the 39 and 42 with service to Back Bay station. JP is also a very bike friendly neighborhood with marked bike lanes on most streets and a well maintained bike path along the Southwest Corridor.

The proximity to a number of parks and outdoor space is what often draws city dwellers to Jamaica Plain. It is home to a significant portion of The Emerald Necklace including the Arnold Arboretum, Olmsted Park, Jamaica Pond and Franklin Park. Other attractions include the shops and restaurants along Centre St including the original JP Licks, the Sam Adams Brewery and The Footlight Club- the oldest community theater in the country.
